We are actively seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist to join our growing organization and help us Nurture What You Love!

This role’s primary responsibility will be to plan, direct, implement and monitor a comprehensive safety program that ensures a safe, healthy and accident-free work environment in an effort to build a culture centered on safety. This position also provides leadership in the investigation of accidents and injuries and the preparation of material for use in both internal and external investigations.

As our EHS Specialist, you’ll make an impact by:
  • Developing, coordinating, updating, implementing, maintaining, training on and tracking safety programs focused on reducing employee exposure to incidents.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and monitoring facility utility consumption (e.g., electricity, natural gas, water, and compressed air) and implement data-driven engineering and administrative controls to reduce usage, ensure regulatory compliance, and support continuous improvement in environmental performance and cost efficiency.
  • Tracking and acting on safety results to assure compliance to standards. (this includes OSHA 300 log, incident investigations, etc.)
  • Coordinating and facilitating safety training (this includes new employee orientation; LOTO instruction and refresher training; on-the-job training, ensuring checklists are developed; and weekly training topics and employee meetings are recorded and tracked).
  • Effectively communicating with the leadership safety team for support or actions needed to help improve the overall safety of Compana Pet Brand’s employees.
  • Investigating accidents, incidents, employee suggestions and job safety analysis, to improve the overall safety of the facility. Provide case management where appropriate.
  • Establishing and monitoring safe and sanitary operating procedures and ensure compliance to associated standards.
What you need to succeed:
  • Effectively communicate in English, in both verbal and written forms
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of safety experience
  • Experience and understanding of CFR 1910 OSHA standards
  • 3-5 years of Food safety/cGMP experience in a manufacturing or packaging setting
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles preferred
  • OSHA 1910 standard knowledge and application preferred
